The recipe for this hot chocolate is almost the same as the one for the traditional one. Only 2 things change: cinnamon and almonds. Once you taste this amazing variation, you won’t be able to go back.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup almonds, silvered
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 8 sticks cinnamon
- 8 ounces chocolate, chopped
- 2 quarts milk
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon, grounded
Method of Preparation:
1. Place the almonds on a pan over medium heat and cook them until golden. It should take about 6 to 8 minutes.
2. Incorporate the chocolate and milk and stir regularly.
3. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the chocolate is melted. Don’t let the milk boil.
4. Pour the ground cinnamon, sugar and vanilla.
5. Stir everything together. Remove from heat when the sugar is dissolved.
6. Place in a blender 1/3 of the chocolate mixture. Process until it becomes smooth.
7. Repeat again with the remaining hot chocolate, processing 1/3 at the time.
8. Pour into mugs and decorate with cinnamon sticks.
