Hot Eggnog




This great beverage will surprise you if all you’ve ever known is the common recipe with ice the eggnog is. Take a risk and heat this amazing drink and you’ll taste how much better it can get.

Yields: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups half-and-half
  • 1 cup dark rum
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 3/4 cup sugar

Method of Preparation:
1. Place the half-and-half in a saucepan and heat it without boiling over medium heat.
2. In a bowl, place the nutmeg, eggs, sugar and vanilla.
3. Whip the ingredients together and begin to gradually incorporate 1 cup half-and-half.
4. Pour the egg mixture to the saucepan.
5. Cook the mixture over low heat while stirring constantly until the mixture is thick, it should take about 2 minutes.
6. Place the mixture in a blender and blend a small amount at the time until frothy.
7. Pour the rum in 8 heat-proof glasses.
8. Divide the mixture among the 8 glasses.
